Live and let live? Or live and let die?

Live and let live. It seems like a noble virtue to live by. Everyone should have the freedom to make decisions on their own, right? After all, those decisions don't affect YOU - or do they?

This was my philosophy in former days, when I was much more liberal. I love people deeply so I always tried to be careful not to offend anyone and for the most part I still do. But one day, my neighbor mentioned he was troubled by having to shun his niece because she "came out of the closet", declaring herself a lesbian. He was an old school Baptist believer, and I thought shunning her was a bit harsh. It sounded like he was judging her, so I reminded him we are commanded to love. We are all sinners!

His reply caused my heart to repent. He said, "I do love her, but I'm not willing to go to hell for her. If I approve of her sin, I'm just as guilty as she is." He suggested I read the last verse in Romans 1 of the Bible.

The chapter explains the following consequence of people's ungratefulness, foolishness and corruption. As a results, God gave them up to their vile affections and degrading passions. Here is what it says, exactly:

Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts,

to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie,

and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections:

for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman,

burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly,

and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge,

God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them. (Romans 1:24-32)

So NOT ONLY those who do such things, but also those who have pleasure (or approve) of them, are worthy of death, but it's not limited to homosexuality. If you support any unrighteousness, you are just as guilty as the person doing it.

But why would God condemn those who approve?

When you look at it from God's perspective, it is easy to understand why. His second most important command is "love one another" and how can you claim you love someone who you know is doing something that will lead to their death (physically and/or spiritually), yet cheer them on? You can't. To say that is love is a lie, a deception, and pure evil.

Imagine you have a loved one who says he would like to free fall off a skyscraper with no harness or anything. Would you support him? Would you protest for his right to do what he wants to do with his body? Would you help him up onto the ledge and smile as you watched him plummet to his death? No - unless you are the devil incarnate, you couldn't do that to anyone, let alone someone you really love.

God knows this perspective is selfish and do not think that the crucifixion of Christ made Him unable to see your true heart. Too many Christians sit smugly, appearing to support liberal ideals, thinking that as long as they're not the ones committing the sin, they're safe. Those who have read the Word know it is rebellion and goes against God's commands, which instruct us to be fruitful and multiply. It's like your boss sending you on a business trip and giving you an assignment but while you're there, you decide to do the opposite instead. Would you expect to keep your position? Or would you be unemployed?

And why does God care if we are fruitful and multiply? It's easy. He wants His beloved creation to live on and in our foolishness and evil, people can die in mass quantities at any time. We must continue to multiply to avoid extinction. Globalists don't see it this way. They claim that this massive earth can't sustain us all. They have no faith despite all the obvious evidence.

For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen,

being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

(Romans 1:20-21)

For this reason, I do not approve of homosexuality, any more than I approve of any of my own sins. I still love people no matter what. I pray they see the light and request the Lord's grace. I believe in sharing what the Word of God says and letting people then decide. They may get angry, perhaps feeling convicted, but I support life and love anyway.

“But when I speak with you, I open your mouth,

and you shall say to them, ‘Thus said the Master יהוה.’

He who hears, let him hear.

And he who refuses, let him refuse,

for they are a rebellious house.

(Ezekiel 3:37 TS2009)

“And you shall speak My words to them,

whether they hear or whether they refuse, for they are rebellious.

(Ezekiel 2:7 TS2009)

“For I have no pleasure in the death of one who dies,”

declares the Master יהוה. “So turn back and live!”

(Ezekiel 18:32 TS2009)

Cause us to turn back, O Elohim, And cause Your face to shine,

That we might be saved!

(Psalm 80:3 TS2009)
