Weather control with words

Have you ever controlled the weather? There's some "speculation" that people have learned how to manipulate the weather through science, and we know that ski resorts have snow-making machines, but there may be another way.

Years ago, I was driving my car with my oldest son who was about six years old at the time, riding in the back seat. Suddenly, it started to snow very heavily like a veil of white in front of my windshield. Visibility dropped to zero almost immediately and I couldn't see at all.

Someone who has never driven in a white-out might think the solution to be easy - pull over, but in actuality it's not that simple. There are things to consider. First, can you even identify the shoulder or a safe place to pull over while everything is covered with snow? Second, someone may already be pulled over there and suppose you go plowing into them? And then, once you're pulled over, there's a good chance someone else may come plowing into you, so it may be safer to keep driving. Being blind on the road is a very dangerous situation.

Having a child in the car raises the stakes tenfold. If we were to crash, not only could we be hurt or killed, but we would be very cold, waiting for assistance to arrive. Finally, fear got the best of me and I saw only one immediate option - pray! I threw out six words as I clenched the steering wheel and leaned forward attempting to ensure I was even still on the road! "Please Lord, make the snow stop".

And just like that, it stopped. And I mean IMMEDIATELY. It was the fastest snow storm I ever saw. My son was probably amazed. I know we were both relieved.

Fear יהוה your Elohim. Serve Him, and cling to Him, and swear by His Name. He is your praise, and He is your Elohim, who has done for you these great and awesome deeds which your eyes have seen.

(Deuteronomy 10:20-21) The Scriptures 2009
