The angel in the rental truck

Have you ever seen an angel? Do you even believe they are real? Or do good things just happen by coincidence?

One day back around 1999, I was driving alone down the Pennsylvania Turnpike on a 4.5 hour trip to South Jersey. When I reached Philadelphia, traffic came to a crawl and I was shuffling along in the left lane. Just when traffic came to a complete stop, my car stalled. I tried frantically to start it a few times, with no success. Quickly, my anxiety level skyrocketed. I didn't know what to do. There were wall to wall cars surrounding me and the median to my left meant I had to get over 2-3 more lanes to pull off the road safely. Pausing for a moment, I did the only thing I could think to do. I bowed my head and said, "God, please help me get this car started". It seemed like time slowed down from that point on. I looked up and there was a Penske truck along side my car. There was a young man, perhaps in his early 30s, at the wheel looking right at me, smiling.

"Do you need help?", he asked, and without hesitation I accepted. With that, he put his truck in park, right there in the second lane of the Schuylkill Expressway, and popped the hood of the truck open. He told me to pop my hood, which I did. He grabbed some jumper cables from inside the Penske truck's cab, like he had done this a million times before. He quickly connected the truck's battery to my car's battery and before traffic even began moving again, he had my car running and both of our hoods closed. As he returned to his truck, he looked at me and said, "God loves you". I was still stunned by the whole situation. I said, "He loves you too!". Traffic began to move and we parted ways. There was more stop and go traffic the rest of the way, but the car never once died. Halleluyah!

Do you believe he was an angel? Or just a person doing good deeds? To me, there's very little difference! Good is good and love rules!

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28)

And He drew me Out of the pit of destruction, Out of the muddy clay, And He set my feet upon a rock, He is establishing my steps. (Psalms 40:2)

Do you have a testimony you would like to share? I'd love to hear it!
