The Scriptures tell us there are many antichrists (1 John 2:18-22) but we are warned that in the end, the final antichrist will come. Following are verses that appear to describe this Antichrist:

  • He marks the "last time" (1 John 2:18, Dan 8:23)
  • There will be a great falling away and this "man of sin" or "son of perdition" will be revealed (2 Thes 2:3)
  • He is a liar (1 John 2:22)
  • He is a king or leader (Dan 11:36)
  • He is a military genius (Rev 13:4)
  • His right eye will be darkened (Zec 11:17)
  • One of his arms will be lame (Zec 11:17)
  • He may be partly of Roman decent (Dan 9:26)
  • He denies that Jesus is Messiah (1 John 2:22, 1 John 4:3)
  • He denies the Father and the Son (1 John 2:22)
  • He is the "little horn" that comes up out of the ten horns of the fourth and final beast (Dan 7:7-8)
  • The horn had the eyes of a man and spoke great things (Dan 7:8)
  • He is given dominion for a time but that dominion is taken away (Dan 7:26-27, Dan 8:24)
  • He implements the mark of the beast and the one world monetary system (Rev 13:16-17)
  • He implements the one world religion (Rev 13:11-12)
  • He implements the one world government (Rev 13:7)
  • His number is 666 (Rev 13:18)
  • He "waxed great" to the south and east and the "pleasant land" and even to the "host of heaven", presumably space (Dan 8:9-10)
  • Through his policy, he causes "craft" to prosper (Dan 8:25)
  • He will magnify himself in his heart (Dan 8:25, Dan 11:36-37, 2 Thes 2:4)
  • He will sit in the temple of God, declaring himself to be God (2 Thes 2:4)
  • He will destroy the city and the sanctuary (Dan 9:26)
  • He will confirm a covenant with many for "one week" and in the middle of the week he will cause the sacrifice and oblation to cease (Dan 9:27)
  • He will not follow the God of his fathers or any god, but will magnify himself above all (Dan 11:37)
  • He will not desire women (Dan 11:37)
  • In the end, the King of the south will push at him and the king of the north will come at him like a whirlwind and he will "enter into the countries and overflow and pass over" (Dan 11:40)
  • He will enter into many countries and overthrow them but some will escape, "even Edom, and Moab, and the chief of the children of Ammon" (Dan 11:41)
  • He will stretch forth his hand upon all countries and Egypt will not escape (Dan 11:42) and Lybia and Ethiopia will "be at his steps" (Dan 11:43)
  • He will make war with the saints and overcome them for a time (Rev 13:7, Rev 17:14)
  • He will be given power over all people in all nations (Rev 13:7) for 42 months (Rev 13:5)
  • He will receive a mortal wound but his wound will be healed and all the world will marvel at him and the dragon (Satan) who gave him his power (Rev 13:3-4, Rev 17:13, Rev 13:14)
  • He will be worshipped by those whose names are not written in the book of life (Rev 13:8, Rev 17:8)
  • "Tidings out of the east and the north" will trouble him, so he will have great fury to destroy many (Dan 11:44)
  • He will build his palace between the seas "in the glorious holy mountain" but he will come to his end and no one will help him (Dan 11:45, Rev 13:6)
  • He will make war with the rider on the white horse and his army (Rev 19:19)
  • He will be consumed by the Lord "with the brightness of his coming" (2 Thes 2:8-9, Rev 17:14)
  • He will be thrown into the lake of fire (Rev 19:20)
