The Seven Seals of Revelation

In the book of Revelation, John tells of the prophetic end-time visions he received while exiled on the island of Patmos. In his cryptic and graphic account, one thing is very clear - God's judgment is a dreadful thing!

God is good and was very clear in warning us that He will not tolerate wickedness, corruption, oppression, abuse, immorality, or any other evil practice or deed, especially the worship of other so-called "gods". The bottomless pit was created for Satan and his rebellious followers. There, the wicked will be tormented for all of eternity. It is not the place God intended or wanted us (His children) to go (2 Peter 3:9). Love is the center of God's laws and if we live life loving one another, as God loves us, it will keep us from sin (Romans 13:10, 1 Peter 4:8). We must also love God, our Creator, (Matthew 22:37) and believe on His Son, Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ (Romans 10:9), we can be delivered from our evil and from eternal damnation. Every person on earth has "fallen short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23), and requires salvation through Jesus Christ, our Redeemer (Romans 6:23).

God warned us of the signs to observe when we were headed for destruction, when our sins have reached up to the heavens. God is patient and has allowed mankind freedom, saying "Do not use your freedom as an occasion for sin" (Galatians 5:13), yet mankind slowly pushed Him further and further out of their minds (Hosea 13:6) and today wickedness is rampant. Much of the world is lost, simply because they don't know anything about God or His righteous judgment. "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge", God said (Hosea 4:6). Many people don't study the Scriptures to learn His ways or praise Him for their blessings, yet they resent Him when things go wrong or their prayers go unanswered. They have no idea how His laws work and they don't know they also have an adversary seeking to destroy them (1 Peter 5:8) - and he's winning. Lost people believe they will return to dust, when they die, ceasing to exist, not realizing their soul is eternal (Hebrews 9:27). Because they believe there is no judgement coming, many are self-serving, without compassion, mercy or charity (Matthew 24:12).

Today, people (including children) are trafficked for profit, corruption is commonplace, abortion is used as a form of birth control, geneticists are tampering with gene manipulation, the earth is being polluted and destroyed for greed, scientists are trying to create anti-matter and recreate the "big bang" they claim caused the creation of this amazing earth and all that lives on it. These are just a few of the offenses that will cause God's judgement. Those who repent and turn from their evil ways, can be saved in the Name of Jesus (Acts 2:38, 1 Cor. 6:11, 2 Tim 1:10).

In the Bible beginning in Revelation 5, God's final judgment on mankind begins:

The Seven Seals

  • 1st Seal – Rider on the white horse; with a bow and a crown; goes forth conquering. (Rev. 6:1-2) Some scholars believe this refers to Jesus, assuming he was the same rider on the white horse in Chapter 19, however this rider is the anti-Christ, according to John Hagee, who explains the difference in his article, The Four Horses of the Apocalypse, as follows: "The Greek text in Revelations 6 reveals that the crown worn by the rider on the white horse is called “stephanos,” a crown of victory worn by a military conqueror. The Greek word for the crown that Christ wears in Revelation 19 is “diadema” or a crown of royalty. The rider on the white horse in Revelation 6 is the great deceiver, not Jesus!" In Revelation 19, Jesus is “called Trustworthy and True, and in righteousness He judges and fights.” He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood and His Name is called The Word of God. (Rev. 19:11-16)

  • 2nd Seal – Rider on a red horse; with a sword; takes peace from the earth “that they should kill one another”. (Rev. 6:3-4) Like the first horse, the second comes to make war. The first horse uses a bow, while the second uses a sword.

  • 3rd Seal – Rider on a black horse; with a pair of balances in his hand; brings famine but is instructed “see thou hurt not the oil and the wine”. (Rev. 6:5-6)

  • 4th Seal – Rider on a pale horse; named Death, “and Hell followed with him”; given the power to kill with a sword and hunger, ¼ of all the earth. (Rev. 6:7-8)

  • 5th Seal – The Martyrs in heaven are given white robes and told to wait a little for their fellow brethren to be killed and fulfilled. (Rev. 6:9-11)

  • 6th Seal – A great earthquake; the sun is darkened and the moon is as blood; stars fall onto the earth; heaven departs as a scroll; every island and mountain moved out of place; men hide in rocks and mountains, begging them to fall on them to spare them from the wrath of the Lamb. (Rev. 6:12-17). Of the tribes of the children of Israel, 144,000 are Sealed to God; A multitude of people in white robes – all kindreds, people and tongues, who came out of the great tribulation with their robes made white in the Blood of the Lamb, are led to living fountains of water where God wipes all the tears from their eyes. (Rev. 7:1-17)

  • 7th Seal – The Day of Wrath; Silence in heaven for half an hour; Seven angels given seven trumpets; prayers of the saints ascend to heaven; there are voices, thunderings, lightnings and an earthquake. (Rev 8:1-5) The Sounding of the Trumpets (Rev. 8-11)

The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. (2 Peter 3:9)
